“Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth.”

—Alan Watts

Who am I?

I am a lot of things, and I am one single thing.
I suppose we are all one single thing…composed of multitudes.

That is the beauty of human life. I am this beautifully and wonderfully-made thing called human, and I am also the amalgamation of all the loves, losses, wisdom, pains, joys, and experiences in my history…as well as all the plans, aspirations, and hopes for my future.

Who am I?

In my career, I am a full-time college professor of composition, critical thinking, and literature. I am also an author, editor, and publisher of independent books.

HOWEVER……

A few years ago, I followed my passion for psychology and mental health, and returned to grad school in pursuit of another master’s degree (this time in Marriage & Family Therapy). I am currently completing my practicum hours as a therapist at a behavioral health facility here in southern California (working primarily with couples, veterans, and military-connected families).

Who am I?

I am also a wedding officiant, a pianist, a U.S. chess federation member, a husband, a father, a connoisseur of fine hip hop, and a purveyor of wit and wisdom.

I’m just glad you’re here.
